I am having a blast lettering with  a bunch of different dip nib holders. This one was milled from a small piece of maple. A bit of an experiment to practice with a small 3.5" holder. Getting some real nice thicks and thins with the Speedball C4 nib.

  2. Thank you Jane. I appreciate the nice comment. When I try to letter this style with a normal size pen holder I totally fail at controlling the pen stroke. I am only having success with a larger diameter pen body. I eventually want to mill an oblique holder with a large diameter so I can practice pointed pen with ease.

  3. Interesting. why do you think it is easier with a thicker holder?

  4. Hi Ruby,
It's good to use a variety of pen holder and brush handle shapes. They all require slightly different hand grip. Makes it much easier on the fingers, hand, wrist, arm, shoulder, neck and the entire body to switch the lettering tools used daily.
