This lettering project happened before the 2012 holiday season began. A client who I have worked with for many years asked me to create the lettering based on his calligraphic style sketch.
The initial client draft was a good starting point. During a 3 day period the letterforms constantly changed and the embellished scroll lines were redrawn many times. I was repositioning and altering the letters as the piece progressed.
I eventually modified the cap J to allow the company logo to fit in the lower loop. Overall, this turned out to be a rather beautiful holiday lettering piece and I was thrilled to see it printed on a wine label.
